Marine Mammal Observer

Hi, my name is Jodie. I am a marine mammal observer. My job is to see if there are any dolphins, seals and whales around the area where a wind farm is going to be built. I spend my day out on a boat with my binoculars watching the sea, so you need to have good sea legs. If we find some, we can advise the people building the wind farm how they can build and operate it so they don’t disturb them too much.

I need to stay focused for long periods of time. I have always been a curious person, especially when it comes to marine wildlife. At school I liked biology and went to university to study marine biology.
